CHAT GPT INFO FOR A DOUBLE ENTER:

Option 1: Use the Built-In Configuration Barcodes

The DS2208 manual includes barcodes you can scan to add suffix keystrokes.

  1. Add a single Enter after each scan
You scan the Add Enter Key (Carriage Return/Line Feed) barcode from the scanner’s reference manual. This programs the scanner to append one Enter after each scanned value.

  2. Add two Enters (Double Enter)
The DS2208 supports up to two suffix characters — called Suffix 1 and Suffix 2.

    • You can program both suffix slots with Enter (ASCII carriage return/line feed).

    • The default suffix value in both slots is usually Enter (ASCII 7013) — but if one has been cleared or changed, you can reprogram both.

    Steps (general):

    • Locate the Scan Suffix 1 programming barcode in the manual.

    • Scan it, then scan four numeric barcodes to set the ASCII code for Enter (0x0D).

    • Locate Scan Suffix 2 programming barcode.

    • Scan it, then scan four numeric barcodes to set Enter again.

    • Finally set the data transmission format to include both suffixes (<DATA><SUFFIX1><SUFFIX2>).

This makes the scanner send Enter + Enter after each scanned code.

📌 Important: The exact programming barcodes depend on your DS2208 reference guide. If you don’t have it printed, you can get it from Zebra’s support site or the quick start manual.

🛠️ Option 2: Use Zebra’s 123Scan Utility (Easiest for Computers)

If you have the scanner connected to a Windows PC:

  1. Download and install Zebra 123Scan (free from Zebra).

  2. Connect the DS2208 via USB and open 123Scan.

  3. Go to Suffix/Prefix settings or Advanced Data Formatting.

  4. Add two Enter (CR or CR/LF) keystrokes as suffixes.

  5. Save and download the configuration to the scanner.

This method is simpler than scanning multiple programming barcodes manually.

🧩 Quick Notes

  • The DS2208 by default does not automatically send Enter after each scan — you must program it.

  • You can program two suffix slots, so using suffix1 = Enter and suffix2 = Enter gives you two line breaks.

  • Make sure your host software expects two enters; if it treats them differently, you might get extra blank lines.
